Today's thought for the Day comes from S75:A1-4,
"Nay! I swear by the Day of Resurrection.
And Nay! I swear by the self-accusing soul.
Does man think that We will not assemble his bones?
Nay! We are able to restore (even) his finger tips".
SubhaanAllah!
Here the point to be enforced is an appeal that is made to two considerations; 1) That every ACT has to be accounted for and evil must have its recompense at the resurrection. 2) That man's own spirit has a Conscience which would reproach him of sin, if he did not suppress that inner voice.
The Qur'an has mentioned three kinds of human self/soul: (1) Ammarah: the self that urges man to evil;
(2) Lawwamah: the self that feels repentant at doing wrong, thinking wrong and willing wrong and reproaches man for this; and the same is called Conscience in modern terminology; and
(3) Mutma'innah: the self that feels full satisfaction at following the right path and abandoning the wrong path. Here, the thing for which Allah has sworn an oath by the Resurrection (al- Qiyamah) and the self-reproaching Self, is to stress the truth that Allah will certainly resurrect man after death and He has full power to do so.
Act for the Day is: To eschew all evil. For we were not created without purpose or without responsibility. The Day of account will come, and our own conscience will bear witness.
Be assured that, Allah can not only build up our skeleton once again by gathering together the major bones, but He is able to make whole and the most delicate parts of our body, even our finger tips, as they used to be before. So fear that Day and shun evil.
JazakAllah Khair.
